Dermal fillers are a gel like substance called hyaluronic acid that is injected into skin to lift and plump out areas that have lost collagen as a result of the natural ageing process. As part of the ageing process the skin looses its elasticity and volume, leading to thinning and dehydrated skin further contributing to wrinkle formation.

The injections rejuvenate the skin achieving an instant fresher younger appearance that just makes you look your best.

The active ingredient, hyaluronic acid, is naturally found in the skin, tendons and muscles of humans and gives our skin hydration and volume.

At RefineUK we only use the latest FDA approved dermal fillers such as the Juvederm, Teosyal Redensity 2 and Restylane Eyelight.

With new technology advances including using anaesthetic in the filler, the injections are relatively painless. In addition, we use soft injections called cannulas that have the advantage of minimal or no bruising and treating areas that were previously too hard to reach. These advanced techniques we use at RefineUK, can now fill out and hydrate hollows.

Dermal filler treatments typically seek to reduce the signs of ageing and rejuvenate the facial appearance by restoring volume and fullness to the face area such as

  • Soften ageing facial lines and wrinkles
  • Improve tired, gaunt looking skin
  • Help with confidence in appearance
  • Decrease sunken cheeks, temples and lower lids or ‘tear troughs’

Dermal fillers are a popular treatment option for a number of reasons

  • Dermal fillers take as little as 10 to 15 minutes to administer, there is no downtime required at all, so once you have had your fillers, you are free to return to work and the rest of your day-to-day activities,
  • Dermal fillers treatment produces fast results. The differences will be obvious immediately and the best result is visible a few days later.
  • The results look natural and can be so subtle that it will not be obvious that you have had fillers.
  • Dermal fillers can be carried out alongside other treatments to enhance the overall result, for example fillers can be used alongside botox.
  • Lastly another benefit of using dermal fillers is that they can stimulate natural collagen and elastin production, which are vital to maintaining plump, youthful skin and can often prolong the effects of the treatment.

Derma filler will normally last between 12-18 months, however this is very much dependant on your lifestyle and metabolism.

Anti-wrinkle injections area a simple, safe and effective way for treating facial wrinkles and lines. Overtime, frown lines may develop on your face because of factors such as aging, sun exposure, dehydration, smoking, gravity, and poor nutrition and other contributing factors such as your own facial expressions.

The purpose of anti-wrinkle injections is to offer a non-surgical and minimally invasive solution to improving and maintaining the appearance of your facial skin. It involves injecting small quantities of toxin in to specific muscles responsible for the facial lines. This blocks the contraction of the muscle, creating a natural softening to the dynamic lines and wrinkles, giving a natural and refreshed look. Anti-wrinkles do not remove deep, fixed lines, but can reduce them slightly and stop them from getting worse.

When administered correctly, this injectable will typically last 3-5 months (but this can vary between individuals). After this time a top-up treatment would be required.

The treatment is not painful, as small fine needles are used, but there may be some discomfort with the needle insertion. Numbing cream if required can be applied 5-10 minutes prior to the treatment, reducing the discomfort. This treatment is a quick, effective treatment with little or no recovery time.

Anti-wrinkle injections is the treatment of choice for people with upper face lines (Forehead lines Frown lines, and Crow’s feet- wrinkles around the eye).

You should start to see a visible improvement in the treated areas within a week. The area may continue to improve for up to two weeks.

Most people wait until they start to see wrinkles before they seek treatment, however preventative treatment using Botox to treat wrinkles before they emerge is very popular. The best time to start treatment is when you start to notice that your dynamic lines (lines that appear during expression and facial movement).

Skin boosters are injectables hyaluronic acid or polynucleotides designed to hydrate, improve elasticity, regenerate the skins elastin and collagen production.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that that occurs naturally in the skin to help attract and retain moisture. As we age, our bodies produce less hyaluronic acid leading to drier, duller skin that has lost fullness and elasticity.

Skin booster products are biodegradable, which means they are naturally broken down by the body.

Polynucleotides has a proven track record with over 90 clinical trials in tissue and cartilage regenerative medicine. The natural DNA fractions initiates the body’s natural fibroblast production, resulting in increased collagen (up to 45% in 23 days) and a thicker healthier epidermis (52% in 23 days). Polynucleotides have antioxidant properties, reducing inflammation and restoring volume and hydration.

Benefits of skin boosters:

  • Deeply hydrates skin for a glowing look
  • Improves elasticity and firmness
  • Plumps fine lines and wrinkles
  • Creates a subtle lift
  • Requires no downtime
  • Boosts radiance
  • Safe for all skin types

Tear trough

The tear trough filler involved injecting a low density derma filler into the area under the eye called tear trough, often referred to as bags, or sunken under eye area. With natural ageing process, there is fat pad thinning and loss of the surrounding bone structure which gives the appearance of the hollowed appearance under the eye.

Filling the fat pad referred to as suborbicularis occuli orbital fat pad (SOOF) with a derma fillers leads to immediate results of fresh looking eyes, facial appearance and rejuvenation.

Depending on the area of volume loss, it maybe that using derma filler around the cheek area first, will improve the appearance of the tear trough and this will be discussed during the consultation. (Link cheek to cheek page).

Results can last 1-2 years following the procedure. The procedure can take up to 30 minutes to perform. It is very minimally painful as the approach is minimally invasive.

The tear trough treatment is carried out with the latest microcannula technique, thus minimising the risks of vessel damage around the eye. There is no needle used in this treatment, we use a blunt tipped instrument called a microcannula which is not sharp. It glides through the tissue layers of the skin to avoid puncturing any vessels in the area.
