Tear trough
The tear trough filler involves injecting a low-density derma filler in to the area under the eye called the tear trough, often referred to as bags, or sunken under eye area. With the natural ageing process, there is fat pad thinning and loss of the surrounding bone structure which gives the appearance of the hollowed appearance under the eye.
Filling the fat pad referred to as suborbicularis occuli orbital fat pad (SOOF) with derma fillers, leads to immediate results of fresh looking eyes, facial appearance and rejuvenation.
Depending on the area of volume loss, it maybe that using derma filler around the cheek area first, will improve the appearance of the tear trough and this will be discussed during the consultation.
Results can last 1-2 years following the procedure. The procedure can take up to 30 minutes to perform. It is very minimally painful as the approach is minimally invasive.
The tear trough treatment is carried out with the latest microcannula technique, thus minimising the risks of vessel damage around the eye. There is no needle used in this treatment, we use a blunt tipped instrument called a microcannula which is not sharp. It glides through the tissue layers of the skin to avoid puncturing any vessels in the area.
